The other day a friend of mine and I were joking about what we missed the most about our time in the military. I noted that what I really missed were the entertaining establishments in which gentlemen may be amused by those young ladies influenced by the terpsichorean muse. Really. I said it like that. I *am* that big of a tool. He pointed out that such places are certainly not off limits to civilian personnel, and really-what did I miss the most?

There are 11 Medals awarded for actions on this day – pretty much right on the daily average. Eight for three fights during the Civil War, one lifesaving naval Medal in the 1871-1898 era, and two Medals during World War II. It is a good day in that all recipients lived to attend their award ceremony – one of whom had a star-studded ceremony! 
Major Richard Bong, the first warrior to earn a Medal of Honor on this day in history.
LTC Bruce Crandall, LTC Ed Freeman, and Colonel Walter Marm. They were all soldiers once, and young.
I apologize to my fellow Legionnaires and visitors for the seeming hiatus of the Medal of Honor posts. They were still going up at my site, but some technical issues with my satellite service provider made it very difficult to post them here.
